Universal Children’s Day
novembro 20, 2020
United Nations Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.
November 20 is also important because on this day
- in 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
- in 1989, the UN General assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
A child friendly version of the Rights of the child is here. In 2019, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child!
The UN has a guide on how to teach the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It can be found here.
Take some time with children to pray for all the children of our world whose rights are not respected and whose basic needs are not being met.
