World Day of Prayer for Vocation will be observed on Friday, March 3, 2023.   This day is to encourage all of the faithful to publicly  “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).  Young men and women are urged to think seriously about responding generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life, or secular institutes.  SSNDs are among many religious who firmly believe that “The Lord’s call is not an intrusion of God in our freedom; it is not a “cage” or a burden to be borne. On the contrary, it is the loving initiative whereby God encounters us and invites us to be part of a great undertaking. He opens before our eyes the horizon of a greater sea and an abundant catch.” In You are Sent we read that “Individually and communally we grow in our ability to respond to God’s Spirit in everyday situations and to unite ourselves to God’s will. In union with the self-emptying Christ, we accept the joy and the struggle of responding affirmatively to God.  (YAS GD 29)
