Traditionally a day associated with Irish, however, it is celebrated around the world.  German has the largest celebrations followed by Ireland and the US. Germany has the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the continent of Europe. After the parade the people gather in Irish pubs in the large German cities. This feat day is celebrated in more countries than any other national festival.  A few of the ones that are usually not thought of are: Malta, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovinian, Japan, South Korea and the International Space Station. In the Americas it was first celebrated in 1601 in the British holding of North America. The longest uninterrupted record is in the city of Montreal  (since 1824). Though the SSNDs were established in Bavaria,  when they came to the United States, and then to other American countries,  many women of Irish ancestry joined the Congregation and brought the Irish traditions to Community celebrations.
