In January of 1973, the Bishop of Fairbanks Alaska requested help to evangelize the 13,000 members of his diocese who were spread out over 400,000 square miles. When S. Ann Christine and S. Jane, learned a very important lesson- Patience– for nature controls time. At Mass, everything needed to be translated into Yupik, the native language. When it came to preparing teaching materials from the textbooks and resources that came from US publishers in the lower forty-eight states, they found that most of the material was hard to translate into the lived experience of the people.
