To widen their perspectives on the world, numerous sisters from the province participated in GAAP (Global Apostolic Awareness Program). After the lectures, discussions, and experience in a third-world nation, the sisters returned to their current ministry and found ways to integrate what they had learned into projects that would build toward global social justice.

This program, directed by Sister Irene Hughes, provided SSNDs with a six-week missionary experience in Honduras and Guatemala The former has the highest level of poverty in Latin America. In Guatemala, more than half of its citizens live below the poverty line. In addition to working in these countries, the 15 participants reflect on and discuss the topics of mission, social justice, global interdependence, and evangelization.
