On April 17, 1838, five novices professed their vows for three years as School Sisters of Notre Dame. They were the first to do so.  After which, with the approval Church and civil authorities,  12  candidates were received as novices.  This happened in the chapel at Neunburg v Wald, the first convent of the Congregation.
