Meeting of Provincial Leaders – Treasurers – General Council

22-24 October 2018, Generalate, Rome, Italy

Meeting of Provincial Leaders – General Council

25-26 October 2018, Generalate, Rome, Italy

Guest Speaker

Father Tom McClain, SJ, General Treasurer of the Society of Jesus, was guest speaker on the first day, 22 October. He spoke of shifting focus from local needs to global needs, from living simply so that there is enough money for our survival, to living simply so that we are able to share with those who have less. This is a witness needed in our consumer society and corporate world.

Our gathering and sharing really deepened for me the spiritual aspect of who we are as SSND and what we are about. I feel a sense of one congregation. Our efforts towards financial planning, budgeting and management in our congregation, will be more helpful when it continues to aim at furthering our charism and mission into the future, especially for the poor. − Sister Oyin-oza Asishana, SSND (AF)

Wspólne spotkanie Przełożonych Prowincjalnych i Ekonomek, to wielki i piękny krok na drodze rozważania naszego wspólnego – międzynarodowego bycia razem w misji…

Wyjeżdżam z Generalatu poruszona wezwaniem “Jak możemy żyć wspólnie/razem mając mniej, ponieważ WYBIERAMY MNIEJ PO TO, BY INNI MOGLI MIEĆ. − Siostra M. Laura Sztefko (PO)

General Council and Provincial Leaders meet

25-26 October

The Provincial Leaders with the General Council continued to consider more deeply the General Chapter call to “Hold All in Common”. Together we embraced gospel poverty in a contemplative, reflective process. All pondered the many ways to understand what it means to be one congregation. The General Council shared work that has been done thus far with some of the Acts of the 24th General Chapter. Provincial Leaders considered learnings from the first two years of our congregational novitiate; they took a first look at two suggested models for the next general chapter and were invited to share their experience of the communication plan. The spirit of the meeting was open and transparent, supportive of one another in our diversity, and trusting.
